LeaseyBite 18, LeaseyTags

This page contains an approximate transcript of the audio content for the LeaseyBite. For further step by step examples of how to use the Leasey features discussed, please consult the Leasey documentation.

Thank you for your interest in Leasey!

Selecting files and folders in Windows Explorer is very accessible, even if you want to select those which are not in sequence, such as items 1, 3 and 5. But its like selecting text that we discussed in LeaseyBite 2. Mistakes can be made, which is why we have LeaseyTags.

LeaseyTags is an intelligent application which allows you to manage files and folders.
They allow you to assign a tag to any file or folder within Windows Explorer. If necessary, the files can be from multiple folders. Simply focus upon the file or folder you wish to tag, then press Control+Shift+Space. When you tag an item, you hear a LeaseyTag sound.

To verify which files are tagged, either:
1. Move through the list of files or folders by pressing Up or Down Arrow keys. As focus moves to an item which is tagged, you hear the LeaseyTag sound. Alternatively, you can use first letter navigation in order to move to a file or folder directly. Again, you will still hear the LeaseyTag sound.
2. Press Control+Shift+T. Each file or folder which has been tagged is announced. This would be the most appropriate way to verify tagged files from multiple folders.

When all files have been tagged, a number of actions can be performed:
Control+C will copy all the LeaseyTagged items to the Windows clipboard ready for pasting elsewhere with Control+V.
Control+x will cut all the LeaseyTagged items to the Windows clipboard ready for pasting elsewhere with Control+V.
Control+Shift+D will remove a LeaseyTag from the focused file or folder. Press this keystroke twice quickly to delete all LeaseyTags.
Delete key or Shift+Delete will delete the tagged files or folders from the computer. A Dialog box will appear, asking if you would like to delete the items. Please press the letter "Y" for yes or "N" for no.

As an example, if you wanted to copy files 1, 3 and 5 from a folder, and paste them into an alternative location, please follow these steps:
Locate the folder in Windows Explorer containing the files to be copied. I'm now in a folder containing some files. I'm going to move down the file list, and, when I reach a file I want to copy, I'll press Control+Shift+Space to tag it.
We'll now move through the files with the arrow keys, and you will be able to hear which ones are tagged.
We can also press Control+Shift+T to verify this information.
Having now selected some files from this folder, I will press Backspace in Windows Explorer, so as I can move to an alternative one.

I'll press Enter to open the folder, move through the files within it, and tag them as I go with Control+Shift+Space.

We'll now Press Control+C to copy the tagged files to the Clipboard ready for pasting elsewhere.

I now need to locate the folder into which I want to paste all these files. Having done so, I'll move into it by pressing Enter, and then Control+V to paste.

If you have copied more than 10 items, you will receive a progress indicator letting you know periodically how many have been copied. You will be advised when the copying is complete. If any files could not be copied for any reason, a screen will appear using the JAWSVirtual Viewer, indicating which files could not be copied. Press Escape to close the window and return to Windows Explorer.

Get your files the way you want them with LeaseyTags, you know it makes sense!
